Our History
Founded in 2015, Redemption Youth Mentoring Services was built on a simple but powerful belief: every kid is one caring adult away from a success story (Josh Shipp). We exist to stand in that gap—offering consistent, compassionate, one-on-one mentoring to at-risk youth ages 8 to 18 across Virginia.
Many of the young people we serve have faced difficult circumstances and made tough choices. But we don’t define them by their past—we see their potential. Our work is rooted in the belief that with the right guidance, support, and opportunity, every young person can discover who they truly are and step into a life of purpose and possibility.
Over the years, we’ve walked alongside nearly 300 youth, helping them move from court involvement to classroom success, from crisis to stability, and from surviving to thriving. But our impact goes beyond the individual—when a young person is empowered to rewrite their story, they inspire change in their families, neighborhoods, and communities.

Who We Are
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve the lives of at-risk youth by first developing sustainable relationships of trust through the process of one to one mentoring. Secondly, by equipping our mentees with the necessary prosocial tools that will enable them to become responsible, productive, respectful, successful adults that give back to their community.
Our Clients
Our target demographic is at-risk youth between the ages of 8 and 18 experiencing challenges such as scholastic underachievement, patterns of disciplinary actions, truancy, as well as those returning to community from detention.
